Wow! What an incredible year it has been. A year ago I was back in the warmth of Nashville, TN deciding whether or not I should move to the foreign tundra of Minnesota. I have to admit, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. With the release of my new single "Glow," I can't help but look back on the journey. The first verse says this:
"I'm afraid I'm gonna learn this the hard way, miles down the road,
And If I turn to see the place I've come from could I go back home?"
I know I am always welcome in the place I grew up. Nashville, TN will always have a special place in my heart, but I am learning quickly that my home is here in Minnesota. I had no idea so much would be happening the first year here.
Many talks were had during the decision making process prior to my move. These discussions were encouraged by the fear I held inside myself. I was terrified to venture into the unknown, but even more scared to remain in a place of complacency. After several good conversations this line was produced:
"I can't tell if meaning runs or stands still. Should I think or move?
Here to stay or made to wander longing for something hard to lose?"
The beginning of this journey I've taken is one to find meaning. I wanted to question my faith, challenge myself, and share the experiences along the way. We're all on this journey called life, and all our paths have a unique story to tell.
I'm thankful to have such amazing friends, family, and of course my wonderful and beautiful bride-to-be (which is another incredible story) join me on this journey. These songs that I write are the voicing of the road shared with all of you. I cannot do this on my own. Thank you for being the support and encouragement I need.
Over the course of the past year I have had many confirmations that this pilgrimage is heading in the right direction. I hope to continue to share these stories with you, and I hope you will share yours as well!
Let's be the light that shines in the darkness of other's paths.
"Where I see the sun, oh I know I'll find you there - in the glow"
